"The concept for Reach Out For Recovery was created after I struggled to find quality addiction recovery resources and treatment for a loved one who was deep in their addiction and really wanted help.
At this time I had been working in the mental health field for over 4 years and it was still a challenge just to find the appropriate treatment for their specific needs and wants that also accepted their insurance. I found myself frustrated and discouraged and knew that I couldn't be alone. This challenging experience motivated me and inspired me.
After I safely got them into treatment I pledged to help make good treatment easier to find".
-Veronica Scala, Founder
Veronica was born in Chicago and has been a resident of Las Vegas for 25 years. She is passionate about helping people in Las Vegas and is deeply committed to the community. Veronica earned her degree at Pepperdine University and is a Certified SMART Recovery Coach.
Veronica has personally experienced the impact that addiction and mental illness can have on close friends and family members. She has even lost loved ones due to drug misuse. This is where Veronica's passion for addiction recovery resources, awareness, and mental health started.
As the child of an opioid addict herself, Veronica is drawn to helping people with addiction and mental illness. She has seen firsthand the stigma that still surrounds these areas and is fascinated why some people are affected by addiction and others are not, even within the same family.
Veronica's favorite part about helping people is engaging with the community and meeting other recovery advocates and influencers. She is very passionate about filling the gap between emergency services and addiction treatment. Veronica feels lucky to do what she loves while getting a chance to make a difference in a town that desperately needs more resources. Every client that Veronica has the privilege to assist has touched her heart in some way. She feels that if she can save just one life, the ripple effect of that impact can change so many more lives for the better.
When Veronica is not at the office she likes to volunteer with local non-profits such as the TINHIH, Three Square, Rebuilding Nevada, and Boys Town. She also serves as the Treasurer of the Southern Nevada Harm Reduction Alliance, is on the advisory board for the Recovery Friendly Workplace and works closely with the Southern Nevada Opioid Advisory Council. On the weekends you can find her at the dog park with her 4-year old Maltese named Matzi or watching a hockey game cheering on our Vegas Golden Knights! Above all, Veronica pledges to work hard for you to help support your recovery and health goals.
